Synopsis
is about a Civil War veteran who comes to a Tennessee town to be its gospel minister. The minister’s faith is shaken when he unthinkingly spreads typhoid in the community. And his skills are tested when one parishioner, a mine owner, resents clerical protection of an old sharecropper whose small plot of land blocks continued mining.
